Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Autism spectrum disorder affects how a child communicates, plays and relates to others. ABA is the most widely used, research-supported therapy approach for building skills and reducing barriers to daily life.
Therapy at our San Jose & Oakland centers
What you might notice
- Limited or delayed speech, or little back-and-forth communication
- Difficulty with eye contact, shared attention or playing with peers
- Strong need for routine; distress when plans change
- Repetitive movements, play or interests
- Unusual reactions to sounds, textures or lights
Many children show some of these signs without having a condition. A licensed clinician makes any diagnosis; our autism diagnosis & evaluation service is one way to get answers.

How ABA helps
A BCBA starts with an assessment of your child’s strengths and needs, then writes an individualized plan with measurable goals. Trained therapists (RBTs) teach those goals in structured and play-based sessions at our center, and your family is coached so skills carry over at home. Progress is tracked with data and the plan is adjusted as your child grows.
Questions parents ask
Can’t find your answer? Talk to our team.
Is ABA only for severe autism?
No. Autism is a spectrum, and ABA plans are individualized. Goals are different for a child who is nonverbal than for a child who speaks in sentences but struggles with social skills or flexibility.
Do you diagnose autism?
Diagnosis is made by a licensed clinician. Rori offers autism diagnosis and evaluation as a separate service, and most insurance plans ask for a diagnosis before ABA starts.
How many hours of therapy does a child need?
Your BCBA recommends the intensity after the assessment. Programs range from 10 to 40 hours per week, scaled to your child, and are reviewed regularly.
